Join our group of warm-hearted dancers at our Lindy Hop and Blues dance weekend with classes and parties on the 26th to 28th January 2024.
TEACHER
Dan Repsch
Dan is immersed in the music and the movement. As a teacher, his enthusiastic approach brings a focus on innovation, connection, and attention to your partner. As a veteran DJ, he’s played for events across 4 continents, DJing everything from international events to local dances. He’s also organized both locally and for international events, including a Head DJ role in BluesSHOUT! and The Balboa/Blues Experiment. In the end, Dan is most excited to work hard at improving the dance and to see people break through their boundaries.
FRIDAY LIVE BAND, Swing & Blues
The Swing Service
Move to the beats of this musical menu of catchy blues and hot jazz standards, featuring smooth vocals, grooving drums, lively keys, thumping bass, and sultry trombone. Antonia Dikhoff and her band The Swing Service will leave you dancing all night long!
WORKSHOPS:
Lindy Hop Sympathizer: Autonomy, Momentum, and Rhythm
In this time block we’ll focus on 3 main elements: Taking ownership of your own movement, refining your awareness of your power source, and how to weave rhythm as a constant throughout the dance.
Blues All Levels: All About Axis
We’ll increase our awareness and give movement ideas based on communicating different kinds of full and partial axis shifts, and with enough time even explore asymmetrical partner dancing over a single axis
Lindy Hop Enthusiast: Finding Your Style and Breakaway
We can spend a lot of time copying other dancers, our partners, or what’s “correct”, so instead let’s see what happens when we explore our own preferences with external input but without judgment. We’ll then expand that into working breakaway into our dances, considering transitions, movements choices, shapes, and composition.
Blues Intermediate +: Deeper Expression
Let’s focus on individual expression in dance: we’ll go through a variety of shapes and rhythms, from our feet up through body isolations, to add deeper textures over otherwise simple base movements.
LINDY HOP LEVELS:
The Lindy Hop Workshops are NOT for beginners.
The classes on Friday are open level.
LINDY HOP SYMPATHIZER (Saturday)
You have been dancing Lindy Hop for at least a year and you’ve attended more than just a few Lindy Hop classes. You are able to dance basic 6- and 8-count figures, lindy charleston, swing out and variations of the basics. You go to social dances on a regular basis.
LINDY HOP ENTHUSIAST (Sunday)
You’ve been dancing for at least 3 years or, if less, very intensively (3 times a week or more). You have attended several (international) workshops. You go to social dances regularly and feel confident with your dancing no matter to what tempo or with what partner you dance. You have a good connection and and can lead or follow more complex patterns without thinking about the basics. You want to dive deeper into styling, musicality and tempo.

Saturday and Sunday Classes (2,25 hours + break):
Members of 1.BWC: 15 € per Workshop part
Non-members of 1.BWC: 40 € per Workshop part

Friday Solo Dance Class (1,25 hours):
Members of 1.BWC: 5€
Non-members of 1.BWC: 15 €
Non-members of 1.BWC + students/pupils/apprentices: 10 €
Pay: Cash at check-in.
The „Introduction into Blues“ class is a donation based class.
You can become a member of the 1. Boogie Woogie Club Nürnberg to qualify for the discount. The association offers Boogie Woogie, Lindy Hop and Blues dancing and much more.
