Whether you choose to immerse yourself in the full spectrum of dance classes and community gatherings, opt for the party-centric second half of the week, or indulge in the entire 8-day retreat, the choice is yours.

Our retreat thrives on collective creativity and participation. Every attendee is encouraged to contribute in a manner that resonates with them, ensuring that each individual’s unique talents and perspectives enrich the overall experience.

As a family-friendly event, we extend a warm welcome to children and non-dancers alike. Read our FAQ here (click to expand):

I cannot come to some of the days. Is it possible to come only part of the time?
— Of course, even though we encourage everyone coming to stay if possible one of the two halves of the event we understand that this is not possible for everyone and we would love to have you with us. It will be possible to book individual days of both the workshop and and the community part.

6 hours of classes is too much for me on Monday and Tuesday especially with a class in the evening.
— The Yoga class in the morning and the evening session are both optional and will not make you miss out on the continuous content. The evening sessions will also be more low key and focus on talks about musicality, dance history and a bit theory.

I am new to partnered dancing. Is this event something for me? Will I be able to enjoy the workshop part?
— The classes will be adapted by our teachers to your individual skill level. As a beginner these classes will surely be challenging but even more rewarding in the end. We personally would recommend the ‚Body‘ track for beginners, as you will get the most improvement for yourself out of it.

I attended last years Frankonian Fusion Retreat. Having classes, parties and kitchen duty was a bit too much for me. Have you found a solution for that?
— We heard your feedback that is why we extent the event to a whole week. So people can focus on either learning or partying one at a time (first half classes with great teachers and second half community, skill shares and party). About the kitchen duty and other duties, we have hired a professional caterer to reduce this point. It is still necessary that everyone helps making this event great but it would only be about 1 hour during the whole festival per person.

What is there to do in the community part of the event?
— Apart from the Grand Banquet and Fusion Ball on Saturday and Parties every evening, there will be lots of activities (hiking, swimming, dancing, board games…) and especially skill shares. Skill shares are classes about dancing or other topics that are taught by participants for participants. You can be sure not to be bored at any time.

I will have to work remotely at some point during the event. Is this possible and is there Wifi at the monastry?
— Yes, it is possible and Wifi is available. We had some people last year doing it and they said it was ok.

Are the bed rooms with bunk beds? If I sign up with someone, can I be sure to have a double room with that person?
— Only the few 4 and 6 bed rooms have bunk beds. Most rooms are with 2 or 3 single (adult sized) beds. The standard is quite high. And yes you can be sure to have a twin room with the person you sign up with (you can move the beds together if you wish).

How big are single rooms?
— Single rooms are basically double rooms with only one person sleeping in them. So there is enough space.

Fusion Dancing welcomes people from different dance styles to mix up and dance together. The dance is not based on any predefined steps and movements instead you improvise together. This puts a spotlight on your connection to your dance partner and to the music. Every dance can be a new interaction and a new individual style. Fusion can be danced to a whole variety of different music styles.

Workshop (14.7.-17.7.)

The workshop part of the event will happen from Sunday 14.7.24 afternoon till Wednesday 17.7.24 midday. Coming later or leaving earlier is possible, but we recommend if possible to stay the whole time. It consists of daily classes, but no partys as we want to give you the opportunity to focus on learning and advancing as a dancer.

Dive into two distinct tracks designed to cater to your unique needs and aspirations. In each track, you’ll be guided by a dedicated teacher couple, ensuring a personalized experience filled with valuable insights and individualized feedback. Spend approximately two-thirds of your learning journey with your main teachers, delving deep into the essence of the classes, and receiving hands-on guidance to enrich your dance repertoire. The remaining one-third offers the opportunity to glean wisdom from the expertise of our other esteemed teacher couple.

Our morning and afternoon sessions are geared towards practical application and movement exploration, empowering you to embody newfound techniques and fluidity. As the sun sets, our (optional) evening sessions shift focus to theory, background knowledge, and the artistry of dance, enriching your understanding and musicality.

Embark on the ‚Mind‘ track, where creativity flourishes, and novel ideas pave the way for expansive movement and deeper connections with your dance partner. Led by the dynamic duo, Yera & Leonilde, this track promises to spark innovation and unleash your artistic potential.

Alternatively, immerse yourself in the ‚Body‘ track, dedicated to expanding your physical prowess, refining your range of motion, and forging profound connections with your partner. Guided by the talented instructors Kelly & Andrew, this track is your gateway to unlocking newfound agility and grace on the dance floor.

Both tracks also feature invigorating (optional) morning yoga sessions led by our esteemed instructor Tina Sinn, offering rejuvenation and alignment for mind, body, and soul.

Yera & Leonilde (Switzerland)

Yera Moreno and Léonilde Torrini are a couple of qualified contemporary and urban dancers who have been combining their styles for 6 years.

After winning several choreographic competitions and Battles, Yera & Léonilde have collaborated with several Swiss artists.

Their aim is to pursue their unique choreographic creations and inspire other dancers to look for new ways of expressing themselves.

They will take you on a journey through their dancing universe, while expressing their passions and vocations. It’s their story and their love of dance that they’ll be sharing with you.

Andrew Smith &  Kelly Howard (USA)

Join Kelly Howard and Andrew Smith, a dynamic duo bringing over two decades of combined teaching experience to the dance floor. With a shared passion for fusion dance and a diverse background in various dance styles, Kelly and Andrew are set to elevate your dancing skills and creativity at the upcoming fusion retreat.

Kelly Howard (she & they pronouns) delved into partner dancing in Seattle’s vibrant Lindy Hop and Blues scenes back in 2005. Their journey led them to the circus world in 2010, where they not only performed professionally in adagio acro but also became a respected circus instructor for flying trapeze. Infused with influences from hip-hop, modern/jazz, and acro, Kelly seamlessly gravitated towards the Fusion dance movement, which allows for a blend of diverse styles to musically interpret any song. With teaching experiences spanning 14 countries and major events like the Fusion Exchange and Seattle Fusion Festival, Kelly’s inclusive and holistic teaching style sparks creativity and connection among students.

Andrew Smith (he/him pronouns) brings a wealth of expertise cultivated over 19 years of teaching across various dance genres worldwide. From Blues and Lindy Hop to Tango, House, African, and Lyrical dances, Andrew’s eclectic fusion approach embodies the spirit of exploration and innovation. By emphasizing technique, connection, and play, Andrew cultivates a safe and enjoyable learning environment where students can thrive. Outside the dance floor, Andrew finds joy in savoring tea, indulging in dark chocolate, and gliding down snowy slopes during ski seasons.

Together, Kelly Howard and Andrew Smith unite their talents, merging a rich tapestry of dance styles into a captivating and enriching workshop experience. Get ready to expand your horizons, deepen your connection, and unleash your creativity under the guidance of these two remarkable instructors.

Community (Dance exchange) part (17.7.-21.7.)

From Wednesday 17.7.24 afternoon till Sunday 21.7.24 midday the Community part of the event will take place. This part will be simular to a dance exchange in the way that there are many activities and skill shares during the day and a Fusion dance party every evening till late at night. Get ready for a wonderful mix of connecting with people, vacation, fun classes from your fellow attendees and lots and lots of dancing.

During the community part of the event, prepare for a diverse array of participant-driven activities awaiting your participation or organization. Whether you’re eager to share your expertise in dance or any other skill you possess, this is your chance to contribute and engage with fellow attendees.

Venture into the natural beauty surrounding the monastery, where opportunities for hiking in the woods or swimming in the river abound. Take in the serene atmosphere and rejuvenate your spirit amidst the tranquil outdoors.

If indoor pursuits are more your style, we’ve got you covered with a selection of board games, puzzles, and crafting materials. Whether you’re competing or collaborating, these activities provide a perfect opportunity to bond with others and create cherished memories.

So, embrace the spirit of community, exploration, and creativity during this segment of our event.

During the days you will have the opportunity to organize or participate in skill shares. Skill shares are classes in dancing or other topics from participants for participants. Having dancers from all the different styles gives you the opportunity to try out new aesthetics of movement. Skill shares are a way to connect and share your knowledge with the community. We are looking forward to seeing a wide range to interesting classes.

Prepare to be swept away by four nights of non-stop revelry at our sensational event! From Wednesday through Saturday, we’re bringing you the ultimate fusion of music, dance, and celebration.

As the clock strikes 8:00 PM each evening, our parties burst into life, fueled by the exhilarating beats of Fusion music curated by top-tier DJs. With genres spanning the spectrum, from infectious rhythms to soul-stirring melodies, there’s something to keep every dancer moving until the early hours.

But save some energy for Saturday, because we’re pulling out all the stops for our grand finale – the themed Grand Ball. Get ready to step into a world of enchantment and elegance, where every moment is a celebration of music, dance, and pure magic.

Every morning our Yoga instructor Tina Sinn will also offer a yoga class for everyone. So join her at 10 AM Thursday to Saturday.

We are also offering professional massages by two massage therapists during the community part of the event. The price for the sessions will be announced soon and you will be able to make appointments during the event.

The teachers have agreed to spend some extra days with us as participants of the community. So they will enjoy some holidays together with us, but they will also be available for some private classes. Appointments can be made directly at the event.
