Cold Fusion – Tango meets Blues

Join our group of warm-hearted dancers at our very special fusion week-end of classes and parties for all levels and types of experience.
For this weekend we are focusing on mixing Blues Dancing with Tango. Whether you come from Blues or Tango or other dance styles, you will find something to inspire you and elevate your dancing. Jessica Cutler, famous Tango teacher from the USA, is ready to get you moving.
WHAT IS FUSION DANCING
Fusion Dancing welcomes people from different dance styles to mix up and dance together. The dance is not based on any predefined steps and movements instead you improvise together. This puts a spotlight on your connection to your dance partner and to the music. Every dance can be a new interaction and a new individual style. Fusion can be danced to a whole variety of different music styles.
CLASSES
You will receive 6 hours of dance classes by Jesica Cutler focusing on movement and connection with an emphasis on techniques used in Tango Argentino and Blues dancing. Always wanted to learn or enhance your Ochos, improve your musicality, get the groove into your dancing? This workshop is for you.
General partner dancing experience is required for the workshops, but previous knowledge in either Blues or Tango is recommended but not needed.
This workshop is for you if:
- you want to widen your scope of dancing or even combine your two favorite dances
- you want to experience a deeper connection with your dance partner
- you want to be able to dance your favorite dance to different kinds of music
- you want personal feedback on any of the two dances Tango Argentino or Blues from an international teacher of great renown
This workshop is not for you if:
- you have no experience in partnered dancing at all (if this is the case, but you really want to join, please get in touch with us and we might find a way to get you from zero to hero before the workshop starts)
- you are very uncomfortable with dancing close with your dance partner
PARTIES
We will have parties all three nights, starting on Friday with a party to warm us all up to the idea of “Cold Fusion”. Pun intended.
There will be a pre-dance class introducing you to some fusion concepts so you can have fun right away.
Saturday will be our big blow-out party. And Sunday we will send everyone off with the best vibes at our cozy fusion house party.
TEACHER
Jessica Cutler
Jesica Cutler has been teaching and performing Argentine Tango nationally and internationally for over 10 years. She is a Dancer, Tango Teacher, performer, Community Leader and a Bodyworker. Her home base is in Denver Colorado where she organizes the Tango on the Rocks Festival. Her education and training in Anatomy and biomechanics influences her entire career and her life in general. She approaches the dance and the classroom with a focus on connection, communication, and ease of movement.
Jesica is heavily cross trained in other vernacular dances such as Lindy Hop, Zouk, Balboa, Drag Blues, and West Coast Swing, but she is most widely know for dancing on top of a small table. She believes that dancing and movement should be a pleasure and encourage dialogue and mindfulness. In class she will charm you and have you laughing while you learn and grow.

Genesis
Genesis is an art installation that features a light and sound experience projected to the ceiling of the Huggenotten church. We have tried it ourselves and it is an amazing experience and it would fit well to the mood and experience of the whole event. Participation is of course optional and an additional entrance fee of 12€ is necessary. Please let us know if you are interested to come with us.
Costs
CLASSES
Members of 1.BWC: 10 € per day
Non-members of 1.BWC: 40 € per day
Non-members of 1.BWC + students/pupils/apprentices: 30 € per day
Pay: Cash at check-in.
You can become a member of the 1. Boogie Woogie Club Nürnberg to qualify for the discount. The association offers in addition Boogie Woogie, Lindy Hop and Blues dancing and much more.
